My passion is to help students to realise their potential and achieve their musical aspirations through my coaching and support.

I select piano music appropriate to the age, level and aims of each student. Lessons range from helpful tutorials to a combination of individual piano instruction and musical activities to make learning more enjoyable.

The lesson length I recommend depends on the age, ability, concentration span and motivation of each student.  Lessons are scheduled weekly, within four tuition terms, according to the NSW public school system.

“In the complexity of our daily lives it can be so grounding and comforting to learn the piano. I have witnessed adult students come into the studio stressed about their work, or overwhelmed with the busyness of their day, only to leave the studio one hour later feeling uplifted and calm.”  Julia T.

If you’re a beginner you will learn to read and write music notation, the fundamentals of playing the piano and you’ll develop your sight reading and aural awareness. As you progress you’ll continue to develop your technical skills, explore different styles of music, build your repertoire, and expand your general knowledge of music.

Adults will benefit from my coaching approach and my awareness of adult learning principles.

Exams are optional and an excellent way to set and achieve musical goals. If you consider taking exams, I offer AMEB courses – Piano, Piano For Leisure, Musicianship and Music Theory.

“My daughter has been learning piano with Julia for 18 months and I have seen a lot of progress in this time.  Julia has a calm but fun manner, and there has never been resistance about attending lessons (although occasional resistance to practice!).  The students concerts are informal and a wonderful opportunity for less experienced pianists to play for an audience.”  Susan, Parent
